Keeping your contractor honest……..
Having a contractor who has worked in your home for many years is a double edged sword. On one side you have the comfort and familiarity with the contractor and their service people, there is a level of trust and understanding. On the other hand the contractor may have come to under-appreciate your worth.
How about a customer appreciation sale? How about a good customer discount? Many contractors spend large amounts of money to gain new customers. It costs 6-7 times more to get a new customer than it does to retain an existing customer. So why don’t contractors pay more attention to their existing customers?
The point is to keep them honest while keeping your warm comfort level. It never hurts to get quotes from other contractors when new equipment is needed. But do not expect the same pricing from a one man outfit as a 30 man service center.
